Golden Week (China)

The “National Day Golden Week” begins around October 1st.

These national holidays were first started by the government for the PRC’s National Day in 1999 and are primarily intended to help expand the domestic tourism market and improve the national standard of living, as well as allowing people to make long-distance family visits.

So because we have 7 days off I decided to do some improvement of the tourism market and I’m doing this:

First class

Now that the lessons have actually started I have a few things to tell you. Class 1-6 is the awesomest class ever, we have the best class spirit in the school. Our teachers are nice people who seem to know what they are doing. While the grammar and character class is a lot of hard work, I do enjoy the speaking class where one doesn’t need to worry about remembering the correct way of writing a certain character or being grammatically perfect. That’s the kind of class that isn’t available in Finland. The people in our class seem to have varying skill levels in 普通话 but we can still come up with sensible conversations. So far so good. Oh and by the way, we have a character writing test every day…

Here’s a tongue twister for you to try out:

And let’s not forget our friend, the restaurant cat, who is keeping the nearby western restaurant tidy:
